Cashmere Care

All of our garments are made from sustainable cashmere from goats that roam the mountain plateaus of Western China. You will find that the initial hand feel can be slightly different to cashmere from other areas such as Mongolia. The handfeel is affected by the twist of the yarn, the gauge of the knit and the colour (darker colours always feel slightly harder to the touch due to the dying process and the heavier dyes).

All cashmere yarns benefit from washing, especially if you use cashmere shampoo, as they become softer to the touch with each wash. Our yarns should give you much longer wear than those that initially feel softer  and they will pill far less.

We recommend hand washing frequently following these simple guidelines:

  1. Soak garment in lukewarm water using mild detergent.
  2. Squeeze suds gently through fabric – do not rub, wring or stretch the garment.
  3. Rinse thoroughly but carefully in clean lukewarm water.
  4. Saturated garments should not be lifted before excess water has been gently squeezed out, as they may stretch. A short, light spin in a washing machine will remove most of the water.
  5. Smooth garment back into original shape and place flat on a towel – dry naturally away from direct heat such as radiators or sunlight. Do not tumble dry.
  6. When dry press lightly with a cool iron.

Woven Cashmere

We recommend professional dry cleaning for our garments made of 100% woven cashmere.

Cashmere Gauzy Knits

For gauzy knits it is very important that the wash care instructions are followed very closely.

If they are washed for too long or in too hot water they will start to pill quicker than normal cashmere garments would.
